PRAYER POINTS FOR THE WEEK OF FEBRUARY 1, 2009Thank God for His plans and purposes for our lives and for Calvary Church. Thank Him that He is in control and that He will accomplish His plans.
May we take hold of God’s plans and ask that He would have His way in our lives. God not only has a plan for us He has a plan for Satan and has limited him and controls what he can do. Satan fights but he knows he is defeated (Matt 16:18) and that the gates of hell will not prevail. His destiny is already determined. (Matt 25:41 and Rev. 20:10) Luke 10:19 reminds us that we have authority to overcome all the power of the enemy.
Pray that we would accept the authority given us and stand in that position of authority to overcome the power of Satan and his plan to kill, steal and destroy God’s people.
Pray that we would run the race marked out for us in victory knowing that as we encounter the enemy along the way that we have authority over him and he is defeated. Hebrew 11:8-10; Genesis 15:5-18
Pray that the church would choose to live by faith and begin by hearing God’s voice. Pray that we would hear the word of the Lord even if it is a difficult word and not what we want to hear. Pray that God would change our hearts that we might hear and discern His voice. Pray that we would also receive the dream and have a heart that is open to God doing what we might think is impossible in our lives.
Pray that we would embrace His promises and be open to all its possibilities according to God’s sovereign rule and plans. Pray that we would be willing to let go of our past and the things we are comfortable with and say “yes” to God allowing Him to take us to a new place.
Pray that we would walk in faith even when we can’t see what God is doing and when discouragement and despair seem greater than the promise. Fight off the enemy “the buzzards” (Gen 15:11) that would try to steal our promises. Push back and push through the darkness and defend the commitment of the people to honor God and do what is right. As intercessors hold up their hands and ask God to give them victory over Satan and his lies.
Pray that God would intervene and that His name would be lifted up and exalted for His name’s sake. Pray that we would hold things lightly and look to the hope we have in God’s greatest promise of heaven and eternal communion with Him.
Pray that we would be willing to leave who we are to take the life he is offering even though we may walk through valleys knowing they are only temporary. “To him who is able to keep you from falling and to present you before his glorious presence without fault and with great joy—to the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore! Amen Jude 24
